Sadhu Vaswani’s 143rd Birth anniversary Celebrated and Observed as International Meatless Day

  • Bhajans, kirtans and service activities marked the birth anniversary celebration at the Mission’s headquarters and worldwide centers

25th November 2022: Highlights:


  • States of Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, India and various cities including Bhopal, Lonavala, Ahmedabad, Gandhidham-Adipur, Vadodara, and Pune Municipal (Kondhwa), declared the closure of all slaughterhouses.

  • In Pune and suburbs, 97 meat selling shopkeepers closed their meat shops on 25th November, out of which 50 outlets are of Kukdo-Ko.

  • Peace Rallies were organised in several cities in India and abroad including Bilaspur, Kolhapur, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Indore, Ulhasnagar, Hyderabad, Las Palmas - Spain.

  • Restaurants in India and abroad supported the cause of Meatless Day. Shamiana in West Africa closed on 25th November 2022, Berjaya Group of Hotels in Penang asked their staff to go meatless for a day. Dhaba NH 37, Pune served only vegetarian food.

  • Phee Boon Poh, Penang's State Minister for Welfare and Environment, Malaysia Actress and News Presenter Ms. Jasmine Suraya Chin, Ms Josephine Tan – General Manager, Penang Green Council and Dr. Chiang Seok Lian – CEO/Principal, Sentral College Penang along with the Staff Members of Sentral College pledged to go Meatless on Nov. 25.

  • Sadhu Vaswani Centers and Schools organised competitions and activities to raise awareness about vegetarianism

  • A new music video (Jago Re Bande…) was released this year promoting the SAK Campaign

25th November 2022 marked the 143rd birth anniversary of Sadhu Vaswani. Weeklong celebrations were organised by the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. It included bal mela – funfair for underprivileged children, programmes by educational institutes of the Mission which included dance performances and enactments, recorded discourses by Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J.P. Vaswani, live talks by Didi Krishna Kumari, and extensive service activities. The day also marked the observance of International Meatless Day where millions of individuals and several organisations pledged to abstain from all foods of violence for one day or longer.

On 25th November, day-long programmes were held. The Mission premises was packed to full capacity. People from across the city and beyond and even abroad had gathered to mark the celebrations. The first session began with the kindling of the holy havan fire accompanied by devotional renditions. Didi Krishna Kumari, speaking at the occasion, said, “Saints like Sadhu Vaswani come to the earth plane to redeem humanity of its sufferings and lead them to God. To become receptive to their grace and belong to them, we must become humble.”


Devotees attending the function were seen overwhelmed with emotion. One of them, Hansika shared, “The gathering was huge, similar to the times when Dada was physically in our midst. It brings back old, cherished, and blessed memories.”

A college student said, “I am here for the first time and it feels extremely peaceful and inspiring. I will try to promote Sadhu Vaswani’s message of adopting a vegetarian diet.”

Following the session, guru langar – fellowship meals were served. “The food is blessed and the vibrations divine. It’s a fortune to partake of this prasad,” said Asha.



The evening session included live telecasts of recorded discourses by Gurudev Sadhu Vaswani and Revered Dada J. P. Vaswani.

The day concluded with bhajans and kirtan renditions that continued until midnight.

In observance of Sadhu Vaswani’s 143rd birth anniversary, service activities included bird feeding, animal sevas, and distribution of ration kits to poor and needy families.130 ration kits were distributed to needy families in Daund, artificial limbs were distributed to 46 beneficiaries, 50 transgenders in Bhavani Peth were given new sarees, towels, and napkins. Mission’s healthcare institutions also offered concessions in diagnostics and treatments.

National and international Sadhu Vaswani Centers organised satsangs and carried out service activities.
