In a landmark move, Albert Bryan, Jr. – Governor, the United States Virgin Islands has issued a proclamation pledging to observe November 25th – Sadhu T.L. Vaswani’s birthday, as the Meatless Day in fellowship with the East Indian Community residing in the region.
Issued on 21st October 2021, the proclamation details out the life and teachings of Sadhu T.L. Vaswani, with particular attention drawn to ‘Reverence for All Life’ – a tenet that promotes the cessation of all cruelty meted out towards voiceless animals.
The Hon’ble Governor issued the proclamation through the authority vested in him by the Revised Organic Act of 1954, and its respective amendments. It reads as:
“….. do hereby proclaim the day of November 25th, 2021 as Meatless Day in the Virgin Islands. I join advocated and communities across the Territory in taking up the 'Pledge to Be Veg'.”
The proclamation has been further attested in the Hon'ble presence of Tregenza A. Roach. Esq – Lieutenant Governor.
The recognition of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s efforts to sensitize individuals, states, and nations on the rights of animals, is a milestone achievement.

In India and abroad, Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday – 25th November – is observed as the Meatless Day wherein several states, regional localities, local supporters, international partners sharing similar views, join the cause and pledge to abstain from all forms of flesh food and intoxicants. On this day, many slaughterhouses remain shut.
