Sadhu Vaswani Mission held a free Artificial Limbs Camp, with the CSR initiative by Finolex Cables Ltd. It was conducted by the Mission’s Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital, in its continued endeavour to ensure fuller lives to the differently-abled.
On this day, the beneficiary patients visited the hospital and were fitted with their respective prosthetics. “August 2, 2021, in observance of Revered Dada J.P. Vaswani’s 103rd birthday, we had taken the measurements of limbs for the patients. Once the prosthetics were ready, 26th September, 2021 we carried out the distribution. The seva catered to the limbless brothers, sisters, and children from in and around Pune,” said a hospital official.
The official shared an incident from the sevas and said, “We had a patient who had lost both his arms and once he was fitted with the prosthetics, he was skeptical. But we encouraged him to use the movable thumb and carry the utilities provided by the Mission with his new arms. When he lifted the bag, his eyes had a new spark and he was thoroughly happy. He also came forward and shook hands with the team. Looking at him, the others in the queue too began using their limbs.”
“In yet another instance, was a child of hardly 7-8 with no arms and legs amputed. He was gently made to stand on his feet. He was terrified and the moment he stood on his feet, the fear transformed into happiness; it was a sight to behold!”added the official.
Starting at 9 am in the morning, the seva was completed by 2 pm. The patients and their relatives were served chole pav.
The Mission also gifted them a blanket, a Sholapuri chaddar, 2 towels, and 2 napkins. 73 patients benefited from the seva and ably walked back home carrying their utilities with a new-found resolve to live a complete life.
