- Sadhu Vaswani | Sadhu Vaswani Mission
Sadhu T.L Vaswani was born on November 25, 1879, in Hyderabad Sind. He was an Indian educationist and a prolific writer who authored several books in English and Sindhi. A born orator, when he spoke, he filled the hall with the rich lyrics of his words and even richer music of his heart. He was a po SADHU VASWANI Let it be man's privilege to protect woman but let no women of India feel helpless in the absence of man or in the event of his failing to perform the sacred duty of protecting her. GURUDEV, THE BELOVED MASTER Sadhu T.L. Vaswani, to thousands across the world, is a name synonymous with reverence for all life. Indeed, he was the living embodiment of an unsullied love that recognized no boundaries, unconditional love that knew no bounds. He embraced all that breathed the breath of life; man, animal, birds and all living beings. His love also flowed out to the inanimate and through them breathed the vibrations of his all-encompassing love. A contemporary saint of the 20th Century, Sadhu T.L. Vaswani was born on November 25, 1879, in Hyderabad Sind, in undivided India. He was an Indian educationist who helmed as the principal of several prestigious colleges and later redefined learning through the ‘Mira Movement In Education’. He was also a prolific writer who authored several books in English and his native language Sindhi. A born orator, when he spoke, he filled the hall with the rich lyrics of his words and even richer music of his heart. He was a poet, a mystic, a sage and, in the words of Dr Cousins, the Irish Poet he was "a thinker and a revealer of the deep truths of the Spirit." A VISIONARY SAINT OF MODERN INDIA Sadhu Vaswani was far ahead of his times. He spoke about women upliftment and of an ideal, world-class education blended in character-building in times when the country was still struggling for freedom from the British Raj and women were confined to the kitchen. In 1929, acting on his vision, Sadhu Vaswani initiated the 'Sakhi Satsang' a daily congregation of women for spiritual upliftment through satsangs and sevas, thus liberating them from being bound to their homes. He firmly upheld the belief that women had a great potential - a great Shakti - which could be utilized for the betterment of society and the nation. Sadhu Vaswani believed imparting education to the girl child was essential to break the societal shackles for her, enhance her abilities and potential and give her wings to fly. In the year 1933, the Mira School for Girls was inaugurated and this school laid the cornerstone of the 'Mira Movement In Education'. Today, the movement has schools and colleges spread across the world; conferring to thousands of young minds cutting-edge education synthesised with spirituality. THE MASTER LIVES ON Sadhu Vaswani dropped his mortal frame on 16th January 1966, at the age of 86. His passing on was mourned across the globe. To this day countless devotees come to offer homage at his Sacred Samadhi, at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission Campus in Pune. To them, Sadhu Vaswani continues to live on in every nook and corner of the Mission and in the work carried on by Dada J.P. Vaswani to whom he bequeathed his Torch.

Learn about her leadership, spiritual guidance, and impactful humanitarian work that continues the legacy of love, compassion, and service initiated by Sadhu T. L. Vaswani and Dada J. P. Vaswani. DIDI KRISHNA KUMARI Some people are born to inspire by being a source of motivation and a catalyst for social change. One among them is Krishna Kumari. Born on May 9, 1961, Didi, as she is lovingly called, began her spiritual journey at the tender age of three under the aegis of two of the most prominent Saints of India, Sadhu T. L. Vaswani and Revered Dada J. P. Vaswani. A MENTOR AND MOTIVATIONAL FORCE Didi is a mentor to multitudes, a light of hope to forlorn souls, an ocean of knowledge brimming with selfless love and care, a rock of strength in times of difficulty, a writer par excellence, and a much sought-after motivational speaker. Didi’s guide and mentor, Dada J. P. Vaswani was a blend of many paradoxes: A man of science and religion, of pragmatism and timeless wisdom; truly, a man of head and heart. The way he seamlessly blended these traits made him unique and distinguished. A scientist, a visionary, a well-read scholar, an educationist, Dada spearheaded the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, a non-sectarian, social welfare institution located in Pune, India. He relentlessly spread his Master, Sadhu Vaswani’s message of love, compassion, simplicity, and service by his own living example. INITIATIVES FOR PEACE AND COMPASSION Furthering one of the Mission’s core tenets of ‘reverence for all,’ Dada popularized November 25th, Sadhu Vaswani’s birthday, as ‘International Meatless Day’ across the world. On Dada’s birthday, August 2nd, people observe the ‘Moment of Calm’ at 2pm as part of a global peace initiative that aims at bringing calm to one’s heart through the power of forgiveness and love. Forgiveness, Dada believed, is the key to happiness. DIDI KRISHNA KUMARI'S LEADERSHIP AT THE SADHU VASWANI MISSION Didi Krishna Kumari is the current head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. She is an expansion of Dada’s robust energy. The Sadhu Vaswani Mission operates 18 distinguished educational institutions across India as well as several multi-specialty medical institutions. Didi also oversees a network of over 60 spiritual centers in different parts of India and other major countries of the world, as well as numerous social and humanitarian projects. The institutions are service-oriented, progressive, and proactive, leaving a deep impact on their respective communities. HER INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP STYLE Her unique and inclusive style of leadership, informed by her deep-rooted spiritual and ethical values, motivates one-and-all to put in their best efforts, so that the Mission can do as much good as it can, in as many ways as it can. EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EARLY RESPONSIBILITIES Didi accompanied Dada on all his journeys, in India and overseas, whether at the prestigious United Nations or in meetings with prominent statesmen and interfaith leaders. She served him and the Sadhu Vaswani Mission in the capacity of Working Chairperson until he passed on, into the Unseen, in July, 2018. JOURNEYS WITH DADA AND GLOBAL OUTREACH The Mira Movement In Education founded by Sadhu T.L. Vaswani has since its inception grown by giant strides under Dada’s leadership and guidance. He expanded the vision of Sadhu Vaswani and ensured blending progressive education with character-building. CONTINUING GLOBAL OUTREACH AND MISSION'S FOCUS Didi continues to interact with distinguished personalities all over the world, spreading Dada’s message. She was recently invited to meet Shri Narendra Modi, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, who expressed deep interest in the Mission’s work, taking his valuable time to delve into its multifarious activities. Didi shared the Mission’s focus: Cultivation of the soul, selfless service, and character-building education. WRITINGS AND INSPIRATIONAL IMPACT Didi’s writings have captured many a heart. She is an author and a compiler of Dada’s inspirational talks, songs, and teachings. She is also the editor of the monthly East West Series magazine. Her works include, Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani – His Life and Teachings, Dada J.P. Vaswani’s Historic Visit to Sindh and How to Embrace Pain. HER INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKING STYLE She is also a remarkable speaker whose talks appeal to individuals from all walks of life. Her simple and practical suggestions give people the authority to rewrite their own life’s story encouraging them to progress on their spiritual journeys one small step at a time. FURTHERING THE TEACHINGS OF SADHU AND DADA VASWANI “In the new unfolding of India’s destiny, women have to play an important part. The woman-soul will lead us upward, on!” said Sadhu Vaswani. Dada Vaswani believed, “The man-made world in which we have lived till now (the patriarchal society) must give way to a new world order made by women. It is then that the masculine forces of aggression, violence, strife, and intolerance will give way to a new age of peace, harmony, and beauty, ushering in the new Satya Yuga (Era of Truth) for all humanity.” Didi Krishna Kumari embodies the prophecies of these great teachers of humanity, to whom she has dedicated her life, by way of furthering their legacy.

Challenges in the Journey DVSDI strives to empower women with skills and confidence, but a few roadblocks come our way. But we strive to keep moving as Revered Dada Vaswani reminds us, “Problems are stepping stones, not stopping stones. ” Overhead costs : Maintenance, electricity, and administration form a major part of running a full-fledged institute. Trainer remuneration : Retaining skilled trainers requires fair compensation to ensure quality learning. Course materials : From baking ingredients to cooking essentials, all raw materials are provided free to learners—an investment that ensures hands-on training but adds to expenses. Equipment : Computer-based courses demand constant upkeep of systems, which is cost-intensive. Counselling support : Many learners need guidance to break mental barriers, build confidence, and understand career and financial options—making counselling a vital, yet costly, necessity. Impact A Unique Model: Turning Skills into Livelihoods Since its inception, Dada Vaswani Skill Development Institute (DVSDI) has been a catalyst of change, empowering women from underprivileged backgrounds to step into a brighter, more independent future. As of September 2025, more than 500 women have successfully completed courses here—many of them started earning a living and even contributing meaningfully to their households. In addition, the Dada Shyam Foundation actively supports these women by providing raw materials and purchasing their finished products. This unique model ensures that learners can showcase and sell their work, earn a sustainable income, and grow their confidence—without the financial burden of upfront costs. On average, women who dedicate just 3–6 hours of work a day are now able to earn around 3-5 thousand per month—transforming not only their own lives but also their families’. Stories of Change Ashwini Bhondwe After completing the Basic Sewing Operator Course , Ashwini found her life transformed. “In our community, it is difficult for women to even step out of the house. The reputation of DVSDI gave my family confidence to support me. Today, I feel proud to contribute to household expenses without depending on my husband for small needs. The people around me now see me differently—they see me as capable. ” With the support of raw materials provided by Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Ashwini stitches pouches that are used in Mission’s sevas. Alongside this, she runs her own small business, taking stitching orders from home and earning a respectable income. Rajashree Dhaktode Rajashree, who trained in both the Beautician Course and the Basic Sewing Operator Course, shares how DVSDI eased one of her biggest worries: “I can bring my child with me. That takes a huge burden off my shoulders. While he is under my care, I can still focus on learning and working.” Rajashree too stitches pouches used in seva activities and also takes up stitching work from home, helping her gain confidence, independence, and the means to shape her family’s future. Contribute to the Cause Be the Light: Support Her Journey DVSDI, in its earnest effort, seeks your generous support to uplift village women and foster rural development. Your contribution can transform lives—help build the future of our mothers and sisters who have long been deprived of rightful opportunities.
