Sadhu Vaswani Mission’s healthcare institute, Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital inaugurated a renovated and internally equipped ‘Dental Department’. The inaugural function was marked by the presence of Didi Krishna Kumari, Sadhu Vaswani Mission, eminent doctors & Life Members and Committee Members of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.
The event began with the lighting of the sacred havan by Didi Krishna, reading of a vachan from the Nuri Granth, performing of an aarti, and recitation of prayers.
Addressing the doctors at the event, she said, “Each of our doctors must serve every patient with humility and create smiles. Each doctor should wear a crown of humility and serve every patient as a picture of God.” The invitees were then taken on a tour of the dental department.
Dr. Chandra B Ahuja, M.DS (Prosthodontists & Oral Implantologist) speaking about the facilities now available said, “The new department is of international standards and we have added several types of equipment to our facility. We now have an OPG Machine – used for Fullmark x-rays, and Advanced Dental Machine for taking intra-oral x-rays. We additionally offer specialised services in smile design, implants, orthodontic treatment (straightening or moving teeth for alignment), aesthetic dentistry, botox, dimple creations, and teeth whitening among others.”
“We also work on Maxillofacial Prosthetics wherein we rehabilitate patients, who have suffered the loss of teeth post oral cancer, jaw augmentation, and more. The department also has a Child Dental Specialist carrying out both minor and major surgeries. Currently, the Dental Department has 3 in-house doctors and 10 specialised visiting doctors.” added Dr. Chandra.
The doctors and patient seating area has also seen a facelift. There are now 5 cubicles for doctors with one dedicated to surgical procedures. The patient seating area is well-planned and has a television showcasing the services offered at the Dental Department. Likewise, the Department strictly adheres to sterilisation protocols of equipment after each consultation.
“When offering treatment, we apprise the patient of the line of treatment. At times when it comes to our observation that the patient consumes or chews tobacco, we counsel them on the hazards of it, as well. We also give them the procedure for post-surgical care both verbally and through sharing of pamphlets,” she adds.
“The revamped Dental Department is a milestone for the Hospital. It has taken 33-long years for us to bring the Dental Department at par with international treatment and equipment. Right from the system of allocating appointments, we have upgraded ourselves. Each patient now is sent an automated message on the day of the appointment. Surgeries can now be carried out in-house. However, the most significant feature is that we are extremely economical in comparison to the dental costs prevailing in the market,” said Dr. Rhea Punjabi, Medical Superintendent, Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital.
Concluding, Dr. Ahuja, advised, “Unlike other health aspects, the dental aspect is often ignored. It is only when a major concern arises that patients visit the dentist. I would advise that every person must schedule a dental appointment at least once in six months to help identify any underlying problem. This habit can go a long way in avoiding major surgeries.” Details of Dental Department at Inlaks & Budhrani Hospital – Dental Department Contact: 020 - 66099780/81 – Timings – Monday-Saturday: 9AM to 7PM – Timings - Sunday: 9AM to 5PM
