Dada & Aamir Khan together at DARSHAN Museum Launch

The Numero Uno Star of the Hindi Film Industry, Aamir Khan, could not resist the lure of the glorious and auspicious occasion of Dada J. P. Vaswani’s 93rd birthday. It saw him gracing the function on the evening of 1st August, 2011, at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, Pune.

His unparalleled birthday gift to Dada was to perform the honourable task of inaugurating “Darshan”. This is a one of its kind museum, a unique marvel exhibiting the life and teachings of the Master, Sadhu T. L. Vaswani.

The  tasteful and beautiful décor formed an ideal backdrop for the glitterati on stage.

The large crowd joined in wholeheartedly with Seema Ramchandani in the rousing kirtan, giving a great boost to the spiritual energy pulsating in each one.

The official inauguration of “Darshan” was a momentous and historic moment. The movie star and the spiritual star, together, unveiled the plaque amidst thunderous applause.

The book, “What to do when difficulties strike” by Dada J. P. Vaswani was released by Aamir Khan.

Dada began by referring to Aamir as virtuous with vision, foresight, knowledge, understanding and love. He was a man with a brilliant mind. Dada expressed his gratitude to the team who had worked on “Darshan”. Dada referred to it as a mere glimpse of the spiritual magnetism and electric personality of Sadhu Vaswani. The music of Sadhu Vaswani’s life was to live for others. He believed in the religion of unity and love, service and sacrifice.

Dada was grateful to Aamir Khan for taking the time out to be with them. He had told that a person of his caliber can charge lakhs of rupees to attend any function. But Aamir had come out of the love in his heart for Dada.

Aamir Khan began by refuting that statement, saying he never attended functions for money. Then amidst a lot of laughter, he proceeded to place several questions before Dada. The answers were given amidst a lot of applause and hilarity.

Some of them were –
Q.) What is your earliest memory of Sadhu Vaswani?
A.) Sadhu Vaswani was also my uncle. Once we kids were playing Scrabble and he joined us. He got the winning letter but did not use it. When I asked him why, he replied – Dada never takes away anything, he only gives.
Q.) What is the earliest gift you received from Sadhu Vaswani?
A.) At my birth, he gave me Rs.100, a large amount in those days. I always say he purchased me with those Rs.100.
Q.) Why have we forgotten the power of forgiveness?
A.) This is so because we have forgotten God. We should turn back to God. In fact, 2nd August should be celebrated as the day of forgiveness. It is the quality which heals, brings peace of mind.
There were many more and the quick and witty repartee was both enlightening and entertaining.

Aamir said he began the day with the ‘thought of the day’ from Dada. Dada held a very special place in his heart.

At one point in time, Dada and Aamir, sportingly to the glee of the crowd, entertained them with song. Dada also said that he got the idea for “Darshan” on one of his visit to Goa where he had gone to the Born Jesus Church, and seen similar depictions of Jesus Christ and St. Francis.

As a token of love, appreciation and gratitude, Aamir Khan was offered a memento and was felicitated along with the “Darshan” team.

The evening came to an end to the strains of “Happy Birthday Dada” being sung by Aamir Khan, along with the massive crowd.
