The 27th,28th, and 30th of July have been seeped in lilting, devotional music and prayer for optimum health and a longer sojourn on this earth, for Dada J.P. Vaswani on his 91st birthday. Mercifully the weather co-operated as well, so that maximum numbers could participate.
Early morning would see the augmentation of recitations and ‘japa’ at the sacred Samadhi, which were uttered aloud for the entire day. One day was devoted to the ‘Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra’, the second to the ‘Gayatri Mantra’ and on the third day the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ was sung, over and over, throughout the day.

According to the Hindu calendar, Dada’s birthday, this year, fell on July 18. The day dawned bright and clear, followed later by only a few intermittent showers.
Early morning, prayers commenced at the sacred Samadhi of Sadhu Vaswani. There, the holy fire or ‘Havan’ was lit and maintained throughout the day. This was accompanied by the ‘Japa’ of the ‘Maha Mrutyunjaya Mantra’. All those stopping by to get blessings of the Samadhi, had the good fortune of joining in, in the japa and prayer for Dada’s long life and good health, the gentle gusts of cool breeze provided a soothing balm.

Rev. Dada J. P. Vaswani was invited to attend the International Conference on Reverence for Mother Earth at Le Meridien, Pune on July 11, 2009. The slogan of the conference was - ‘Warmer hearts can cool a warming planet’. The discussions included reverence for all life in addition to the environment and ecology as well.

Sadhu Vaswani Mission organizes a special interaction of the youth with Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani, along with young celebrities Shweta Keswani and Mohit Lalwani followed by a food fair and games. It is being held at the Mission Campus in Pune on the evening of Saturday, Aug 1, 2009 on the occasion of Rev. Dada’s Birthday Celebrations.

Yet another beautiful Sunday morning scene. All devotees anxiously waiting for Dada to arrive in the satsang hall. Slowly, gently Dada slips into the satsang hall and walks to the stage. In his touching talk Dada spoke of a sage, who several years ago, had come to visit Sadhu Vaswani. Sadhu Vaswani requested him to say a few words of blessings to the sangat. The sage truly spoke a few words, but their depth was so intense that they pierced Dada’s heart, and he remembers them even today.

The holy scriptures say that the Guru is the embodiment of the Divine. The devotees of Sadhu Vaswani and Dada J. P. Vaswani commenced this auspicious day of Guru Purnima at 5 am, with cleaning of the sacred Samadhi, followed by lighting of the havan and mantra recitation and singing the praises of the Guru (Guru Mahima) and naam kirtan – a most appropriate way of expressing gratitude, devotion and reverence for their Guru.
