The culmination of the week-long celebrations for the 89th birthday of Dada J.P. Vaswani took place in the evening with the Bhog of the 89 Nuri Granth Paths. This was followed by service through provisions and clothing of the underprivileged and the blind. During this time the soothing waves of the bhajans immersed the audience in a healing deluge. Though the rains in Pune had abated for a while, the cooling showers of blessings from Heaven continued to pour down on Nature’s favoured child, Dada J. P. Vaswani, on his 89th birthday. The fortunate hordes of devotees, in the vicinity, also managed to experience a few of the refreshing sprays!

The auspicious, eagerly awaited day of August 2, commenced with early morning prayers and bhajans. Dada’s entry into the packed Satsang hall was greeted with cheerful applause and pranaams. The evening of the 31st was devoted to homage being paid to Dada J.P. Vaswani, through song, as part of his 89th Birthday Celebrations. It was aptly titled ‘Bhajan Ganga’ for we took holy dips in the sacred musical ripples of the bhajan-filled Ganga. The devotional lyrics were purifying and cleansing and we were warmed and blessed by the sun-like rays that emanated from Dada. Continue reading »

Who says that anything spiritual has to be serious, sober, dull and boring?  The atmosphere at the Youth Meet, one of the functions celebrating Dada’s 89th birthday, was so full of verve and vivacity, so thick with joy and bliss that you could slice it with a knife.  Though, of course, the only cutting that took place was of the birthday cake, amidst loud cheering and applause.
