Dada J P Vaswani’s 87TH birthday celebration by
St. Mira’s Primary and Secondary Schools – July 25, 2005

The Mira Hall, full of studens from the primary and secondary schools wore an appearance of innocence. The stage was beautifully decorated with colourful balloons. There was excitement all around, in anticipation of Dada’s sudden appearance in the Hall.

Tiny tots on the stage wearing colourful dresses sang a song for Dada. The secondary school students followed by singing bhajans and songs. As soon as the students saw Dada their eyes lit up. Dada walked up to the end of the hall to greet one and all.

As a birthday gift to Dada, the students had collected packets of rice, sugar, dal, tea, biscuits etc. to be distributed to the poor.

Dada expressed his gratitude to the head mistress of both the primary and the secondary schools and also to the students for organizing the function. He was very happy with the birthday gift.

Sitting in the company of so many children Dada was reminded of his childhood. He told them about one important lesson that he learnt in his life. The lesson was from the life of Prophet Mohammad “To return good for evil” . Dada said that all return good for good, but very few return good for evil. One such was Prophet Mohammad, founder of Islam.

Dada continued evil ceaseth not by evil, evil ceaseth by goodness. Only when you return good for evil you become a new person. Therefore grow in the spirit of forgiveness. Hold no grudge against anyone, go on blessing everyone. Only when you do this i.e. return good for evil will be called true children of St. Mira.

The function concluded with the students singing & Dada cutting the birthday cake and sharing it with all.
