The evening Satsang - Thursday 19th Jan.

On Thursday 19th Jan 2006, the evening satsang was emotionally charged as Rev. Dada came in to deliver his customary Ruh-rihan. To say that people were moved to tears is to convey an impression; members of satsang said to us later that they had goose pimples on their flesh; they were speechless with joy that Dada was back in the satsang with them – and all would now be well with the world!

Anxious eyes scanned the beloved face of the guru – did Dada seem tired? Did he seem to be in pain? Had he grown weaker? Through a veil of joyous tears they could only see his beauteous smile, his radiant eyes – and they were so enveloped in the warmth of Dada’s love and grace, that they just decided to accept the blessing of his presence, and thank the Lord, as he has always taught them to do – Thank You God! Thank You God! Thank You God! – and no more questions to be asked, for Dada was with them again – and they needed nothing, lacked nothing now!

Dada’s discourse was everything that they could have wished for! Dada began a new series of talks on the illustrious maharishis who have hallowed this great country with their spiritual shakti and wisdom in the past. First and foremost among them was Maharishi Narad, beloved of Maha Vishnu. Narada on whose lips was the Name of the Lord – constant, ever present, ever beloved. For Narad, Om Namo Narayana was the mantra of his life and his soul. This great sage also gave to us the Mahamantra

Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.

In this prophetic vision, the great sage foresaw the state of the world, the plight of human beings in Kaliyuga, and knew that his wisdom, that the Lord’s Name would be our one great means of salvation in this age. It was indeed that it was fitting that he, who had converted his very prana, breath into the Name Divine, should be the one to give us the sacred Mahamantra which sustains so many of us amidst our afflictions and ailments, physical and spiritual.

Let the Name Divine be on our lips constantly, Dada urged, even as it was on Maharishi Narad’s. Though there are other means to train and focus the mind, the repetition of the Name Divine is the simplest, surest and the best for all of us. For we find it difficult to concentrate; the mind wanders on its own accord, even when we valiantly try to meditate. But chanting, singing the Name Divine focuses our wandering mind, even as a magnet draws the iron filings. When we form Kirtan groups and sing the Name Divine in chorus, we veritably create a paradise on earth, and even the most weak-willed among us will find that they are losing themselves in the ocean of Nectar that is Nam Smaran. Therefore, Dada urged, let Kirtan become a habit with us; let Kirtan pave the way Godward for us.
