SUPPLY
OF WATER TO THE VILLAGERS
India is a land of rich natural resources. However,
due to lack of proper infrastructure facilities, scarcity
of water is one of the major problems faced by the people
in India, more so in the remote villages of drought prone
areas.
Once the volunteers from the Sadhu Vaswani Mission
decided to visit villages to see if they could be of any help
to the villagers. They carried food and 500 bottles of water
with them for the villagers. The villagers were only thirsty
for water, as there was an acute shortage of water in the
village. The villagers had to travel 5 kms every day to fetch
water from the only river near the village.
One can go without food for 8 to 10 days but
not without drinking water for such a long time. Even while
traveling water is the most essential requirement of every
human being. When a train halts at a railway station, one
sees people rushing towards water taps to quench their thirst.
Therefore the Sadhu Vaswani Mission decided to
quench the thirst of these villagers and provide relief to
them by supplying a water tanker with a capacity of 12,000
litres of water twice a week. The cost to the mission is only
Rs. 350/- to 400/- per tanker apart from cost of travel of
the volunteers.

In appreciation of the good work being carried
out by the mission, many volunteers have come forward to sponsor
the cost of the water tankers. Some of the volunteers even
go along to see for themselves to feel the relief of the villagers
when the water tanker arrives. On seeing the joy on the faces
on villagers when the tanker arrived, one of the volunteer's
remarked "It is was the pilgrimage of her life".
