DADA J.P.VASWANI’S TALK AT THE SADHU VASWANI MISSION ON THE 40TH DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF SADHU VASWANI
For the milling crowds, just to have the presence of Dada J.P.Vaswani in their midst, after several weeks of crossing the tortuous terrain of excruciating pain, was a shining example of patience and perseverance, courage and faith.
Overriding the dictates of the doctors, Dada appeared before the eagerly awaiting listeners, to keep his word and to pay his homage to his Master, Sadhu Vaswani on the 40th Anniversary of his Samadhi.
Dada started by expressing his gratitude to God and to all those who helped to put his health on to the path of recovery – specially the doctors of both Allopathy and Ayurveda. Then, with a mischievous grin he added that he realized his recovery was not enough to enable him to talk for the entire stipulated period. But, for all present, just to be able to listen to him was the icing on the cake.
Though Sadhu Vaswani left his physical body on January 16, 1966, Dada passed on his assurance and vow that he would never leave us till each one of us had attained salvation. Sadhu Vaswani himself never yearned for ‘mukti’ but was ever willing only to serve.
Quoting the Granth Sahib – ‘with this human birth, what karma have you earned?’ – Dada urged us to prepare our statement of profit and loss in this lifetime. This world is akin to the stock-market, an arena of commerce and trade which we all participate in, in different ways. But the true treasure is the one we can take along with us to the after-life; the rest is all left behind. We came to this world empty handed and on leaving, even our hands are left behind.
The wealth and fame of this world is false, hence Dada urges us not to fritter away the invaluable gift of this human birth. By merely indulging our senses, we are no different from animals. This body is but a pot filled with the treasure of a fixed number of breaths. When the last few are left, it is useless to regret how they were meaninglessly blown away.
Alexander, the Great, who had wasted away lakhs of breaths in conquering this world, on his death-bed, could not get even a single breath from anyone in return for his entire Kingdom.
The subtle music of the Lord’s flute and the all-encompassing Divine Light of the Spirit are within us. This is what should be perceived when we shut our eyes, and not mere darkness.
