Baba
Gangaram Felicitated – at the Sadhu Vaswani Mission
On
April 8, 2005
Today
saw the joyous occasion of the unveiling of Baba Gangaram's
Sttatue. Amidst the host of St. Mira's School children, were
present several ex-students, admirers and friends who honoured
and felicitated Baba Gangaram – above all Dada J.P. Vaswani
himself.
Baba
Gangaram was a true educationist, whose disciplinarian ways
were super imposed by his warm smile and twinkling eyes. He
touched the lives of thousands, both girls and boys who are
now parents and grandparents.
His
towering personality, his fair and rosy visage, his confidence
based on his dedication, made him appear no less than a highly
placed government official.
He
was remembered as a true karma yogi, his life being a living
Gita; for having a mother's heart for his students; for equating
the work for his mission to being on a perpetual warpath.
For him true education meant that along with the 3R's, children
should learn about the life of saints; recitation of slokas,
competition and plays emphasizing moral values.
He
passed on his tremendous dynamism and dedication to the children
of St. Mira's Schools believing to be true crusaders who would
say-nothing is ‘impossible', but instead ‘I'm possible'; who
would do their duty and a little more.
Speaking
on the occasion, Dada J.P. Vaswani said:
Baba
Gangaram, a unique and simple soul of flawless character,
an apostle of children, immersed himself in the teachings
of his master, toiled from dawn to dusk with no though of
self, filled his life to saturation with compassion for birds
and animals, making himself a crusader of animal rights. His
soul must be joyfully smiling down today to see his dream
fulfilled – all the children of St. Mira secondary school
have turned vegetarian.
Just
as Michael Angelo could envisage an angel in a dirty broken
piece of stone, so also for Baba no child was bad or dirty,
for his vision only saw the angel in each child.
