Dada J P Vaswani in his fiery, thought provoking speech urged one and
all to live religion not merely speak of it. Religion has not failed us
he affirmed but it is we who have failed religion. To live religion Dada
said:
1) Be true to your own duty. Perform your duties sincerely, diligently,
faithfully.
2) Do your duty and a little more. The universal can be found in the specific-
the ultimate can be discovered in the mundane. Just a kind word, a broad
smile can dispel darkness. Life takes on a magical turn when we go out
of ourselves and make little differences in the lives of others.
3) We live in a busy world where time is premium for most people. But
quiet reflection for a few minutes will bring strength in the midst of
the stress and strain of life. Positive affirmations like,” I am
a channel of God’s peace, the love of God fills me and flows out
of me will prove tremendously beneficial. Awakened hearts can only usher
in a new era of peace. Therefore let love enter into your hearts-for it
is only love that can save our sinking civilization. Love is not a commodity
that you can turn on for some people and off for others. Bring love back
into your lives and the light of love will burn bright and burn away all
enmity so that man can meet his fellowmen not with a bullet but with a
warm heart.
Others who spoke on the occasion included H.E. Arch Bishop of Delhi- Vincent
M Concessa, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau, H.E.
Ayatollah Mahmoud Mohammadi Araghi.
